On Thursday 5 October, almost fifty pupils from Lower Fifth through to Upper Sixth were accompanied by staff members as they volunteered to forgo the extra warmth of their duvets and dig out their sleeping bags for a night under the stars!

The Sleep Out on the Quad is a fantastic fundraising event for the St John’s Eagle Community Holiday, our annual residential holiday scheme for children with additional needs that takes place in the summer holiday. The event is a fundraising tradition that was interrupted by the Covid 19 pandemic, so we were delighted to reintroduce it.

Pupils were encouraged to fundraise their participation fee, and we were incredibly proud that so many pupils volunteered to take part.

The evening was pleasantly mild apart from a chilly breeze, largely thanks to the unseasonably warm October we are experiencing. The community enjoyed the event, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Pupils and staff were most grateful to warm up over hot chocolate and breakfast in the morning.
