Discover events
Discover events take place on normal school days and are held regularly, throughout the year, for smaller groups than our whole-school open events. The morning begins with a tour by current pupils, followed by a talk by The Head, Alex Tate, before refreshments and the opportunity to talk with senior academic and pastoral staff informally.
We welcome both parents and pupils to these events, however, as they are hosted during a normal school day, we encourage pupils to attend a whole-school event and avoid taking time off school to attend. Please note that some of these events are for families of Year 6 pupils only.
Discover events are suitable for 11+ and 13+ applicants. We recommend that families who are interested in joining St John’s for the Sixth Form, come along to our Sixth Form Open Event.
Please note that there is no onsite parking available.
Whole school open events
We hold whole-school open events in Autumn and Summer Term each year. They are the ideal opportunity to see the entire school, get a feel for the atmosphere at St John’s and – most importantly – to meet our pupils who take great pride in conducting tours. The Head, Alex Tate, gives a talk in the Chapel, along with the School Captains, and our friendly staff welcome you into their departments to discuss their subjects and answer questions.
Please note that there is no onsite parking available.
Sixth Form events
We recommend that families who are interested in joining St John’s for the Sixth Form, come along to both a whole-school open event and the Sixth Form specific event if possible.
Our Sixth Form event gives prospective pupils and parents chance to meet The Head, the Assistant Head (Sixth Form) and our Heads of Departments will welcome the opportunity to discuss the subjects being considered for A level study. Current Sixth Form pupils conduct tours of the School, answer questions and share their experience of life in the Sixth Form.
Please note that there is no onsite parking available.
