You can only begin to get a sense of life at St John’s from the pages of a prospectus or website and so we would encourage you to visit us. Our Open Events provide a great opportunity to visit our beautiful school site, meet our pupils and staff in our happy, purposeful school community. Amongst the ambition, excitement, variety and joyfulness of life at our school – we hope to provide you with a feel of what it is that makes St John's such a special place to be.
We run a variety of events throughout the year including whole-school Open Events and smaller events for specific family audiences. We recommend attending an event as they give you a chance to meet a wide variety of staff members and to learn more about the full breadth of activities and opportunities on offer at St John’s.
If you are unable to attend on the dates advertised, please do get in touch with our Admissions Team and we will be happy to arrange an opportunity for you to visit St John’s.
We hope the virtual tour and introductory videos below from The Head, Rowena Cole, and our School Captains provide an essence of life at St John’s.

We would be delighted to welcome you to one of our open events; please book below.
Whole-school Open Events (11+, 13+, 16+)
St John's holds whole-school Open Events in the Autumn and Spring Term each year. During these events, the whole of the School is open and on show; and our pupils take great pride in giving you a tour of their school. The Head gives a talk in the Chapel with the School Captains, and our friendly staff welcome you into their departments to discuss their subjects and answer any questions you may have.
Whilst our recent events have taken place virtually, we very much hope to welcome families to St John’s in person for the Autumn Term events, so you can experience the warmth and enthusiasm of our staff and pupils in person.
Friday events (Autumn Term)
Talks take place at 5.30 and 6.15pm, with the last tours available from 6.15pm
Saturday events (Autumn and Spring Term)
Talks take place at 9.30 and 10.15am, with the last tours available from 10.15am.
Please note that there is no onsite parking available. Attendants will direct you to the two reception areas.
Discover Events (11+, 13+)
Discover St John’s mornings are smaller open events for prospective pupils and parents, which are held on a normal school day regularly throughout the year. The morning begins with refreshments with senior academic and pastoral staff, followed by a talk from The Head. Visitors are then toured around the School by our pupils.
We very much hope to welcome families to St John’s in person for the Autumn Term events, so you can experience the warmth and enthusiasm of our staff and pupils in person.
We welcome both parents and pupils to these events, however, as these events are hosted during a normal school day, we would encourage pupils to attend a whole-school event and avoid taking time off school to attend.
Please note that some of these events are for families of Year 6 pupils only.
Sixth Form Events (16+)
For families who are interested in join St John's for the Sixth Form, both a whole-school Open Event and the Sixth Form specific event is recommended.
The closing date for applications to join us in the Lower Sixth, September 2022 is 15 October 2021.
At our Sixth Form Events you will meet The Head, the Assistant Head (Sixth Form) and the Heads of Departments will welcome the opportunity to discuss the subjects you are keen to study at A level. Our current Sixth Form pupils enjoy giving tours of the School, answering questions and sharing their experience of life in the Sixth Form.
Taster Mornings (11+, 13+)
Taster Mornings, usually held on a Saturday morning in the Autumn Term, are designed to give prospective pupils who are currently in Year 6 a feeling of what it may be like to be a St John's pupil. Our academic staff thoroughly enjoy engaging with pupils in different activities at these events.
Booking for Taster Mornings will be made available from 1 September 2021.
