St John’s is seeking a hardworking and imaginative Junior Sous Chef who is passionate about creating high quality food for both the School and external customers. The Junior Sous Chef is responsible for assisting the general kitchen operation, the safe preparation, presentation of all food and ensuring compliancy with all HACCP & allergen procedures in the kitchen area. The Junior Sous Chef is also responsible for deputising for the Sous Chef.
The successful candidate will possess good communication and customer service skills, the ability to work quickly and under pressure and have experience of working in a high volume food production role. A high level of awareness about food hygiene and Health & Safety is fundamental, and a relevant qualification is desirable.
Hours of work will be 40 hours per week on a shift rota basis to include some Saturdays. The Postholder is required to work 40 weeks per annum which is term time plus additional weeks agreed in advance. The willingness to work flexible hours when necessary is essential.
Basic salary will be within Band 4 on the Support Staff Salary Scale pro-rata £25,466 – £26,611 per annum (£25,846 – £27,009 FTE), depending on skills and experience, paid monthly pro rata over the year. The salary is inclusive of paid holiday entitlement. Salaries are reviewed annually on 1st September each year.
