On Monday 15 November, Lower Sixth pupils were invited to attend the Universities Fair. The event was hugely successful, with representation of 17 universities from around the UK, including many of St John’s most popular choices.

We were delighted to welcome a great selection of universities to St John’s. Pupils were considered and engaged, with the opportunity to learn more about the courses, requirements, and wider student life on offer at different institutions. It was brilliant to see pupils driving the conversations and immersed in discussions with the university representatives, seeking advice with any questions they had about their future endeavours.

The evening provided pupils with an opportunity to speak directly to the university outreach officers about admissions requirements, Batchelor’s and Master’s degrees, university life, sport, accommodation and more. Adding to the variety of information available, major corporate employers such as Unilever, Nestle and CGI were in attendance to highlight higher education apprenticeship opportunities, and a representative from EdVice was available for questions about American university applications.

Pupils enthused following their conversations and discoveries, and Deputy Head of Sixth Form (University Admissions), Aaron Mooney commented: ‘It was wonderful to see pupils finding a course that interested them and hearing them discuss the differences between courses at different universities. It has inspired many to continue their investigative journey into selecting their preferred course at a top university’.

The Universities Fair provided a valuable opportunity to aid the pupils’ research into their future plans; allowing them to find out a variety of information from universities, and to understand how career paths develop and progress.
