With twinkling lights and a fantastic array of stalls, the Christmas festivities began at St John’s School on Saturday 20 November with the SJPA Christmas Market. Local residents and families had the perfect opportunity to peruse a fantastic array of unique gifts, delicious food and tombola stalls.
This year’s event was a fun-filled seasonal extravaganza of shopping, a snowboarding simulator and much more! There was something for everyone, including gifts, skincare, wreaths, jewellery, art, and other fine goods from local companies. Scrumptious festive food was available at every turn – with treats including mince pies, cookies, and mulled wine. The event was a hive of festive fun, with tombola’s and games aplenty for children to enjoy.
The annual event is organised by a dedicated team of SJPA members, with the purpose of bringing the School and local community together to raise money for local charities. The SJPA will give a percentage of the profits to two chosen charities this year: The Leatherhead Food Bank and QEF.
Alongside several charity stalls, pupils involved themselves in the fundraising efforts, and many houses created their own stalls to raise money for their house charities, including handmade Christmas decorations and cards, table centrepieces, and hot chocolate.
Whilst the funds raised are still being calculated, St John’s School would like to give thanks to the SJPA, and all involved in creating such an enjoyable start to the Christmas season. The community event has grown to become a Christmas spectacular for all to enjoy, and we were delighted to welcome families back to the School after the virtual format last year.
There are no excuses for not finding the perfect present…. If you missed the fun of the fair, or you’d like to peruse the stalls once more, you can visit the Virtual SJPA Christmas Market by clicking here. (Open until 17 December 2021).
