At the heart of the ethos of St John’s is the intention to create rounded, open-minded young adults who are curious, interested and socially aware. Having a global and local perspective is an important element in achieving this and high-quality trips and expeditions add enormous value to a pupil’s time at our school.

All pupils have access to a rich variety of both residential and day trips, as well as overseas expeditions and cultural immersion opportunities. Many are directly linked to the curriculum, but the benefits to pupils go far beyond the purely educational. Physical and mental resources, initiative, leadership and teamwork are put to the ultimate test in a variety of expeditions and exhilarating tours across the globe. Our trips and expeditions teach valuable social skills, from working as a team to good time management, and provide a real chance to stretch and test each individual.

Our diverse trips and tours cultivate a real spirit of adventure and a love of personal challenge.

Many trips occur annually, becoming popular fixtures in the calendar, while others are run on a different cycle, such as overseas sports trips. Some occur during the holidays, for example the Shamwari conservation trip and pre-season sports training.
