The St John’s swimming team has gone from strength to strength in recent years and is very competitive. We run girls’ teams and boys’ teams for all age groups.

We have strong links with Leatherhead Swimming Club for additional training opportunities. We have a number of qualified lifeguards/swimming coaches, who draw on a wealth of experience competing in the sport themselves.

In the summer of 2019, St John’s completed the build of a new competition-standard six lane, 25m pool.

In the 2017-18 academic year, the senior boys swept both wins at the Surrey Team Championships to win their place at English Nationals.  Competing against the fastest teams in the country, they went on to secure fifth place nationally.  At the Bath Cup, the girls and boys won their respective Dunelm and Aldenham cups, making St John’s the first school to win the four cups at the Bath Cup and setting new records in the process.

In 2019, the U15 girls team competed at the English Nationals, in two relays.  For the fourth year running, our girls team won both Bath Cups. During 2019, we were delighted to see our pupils received a number of medals at the Surrey Individual Championships.

With the postponement of fixtures due to Covid 19, our swimming teams were unable to compete in 2020/2021. We very much look forward to the new season, and getting back into the swimming pool!

In addition to fixtures, we have an annual sponsored swim, run an annual house swimming event and hold the occasional friendly water polo fixture. Both recreational and team standard swimmers are catered for in swimming sessions.
