St John’s celebrates the high standards and high hopes of pupils who have the talent and commitment to excel in their chosen specialism, and the potential to further develop during their time here.  We are pleased to award academic, art, performing arts, design and engineering, music, sport and all-rounder scholarships to recognise and cultivate excellence in these areas.

Any candidate awarded a scholarship is expected to maintain a level of excellence and demonstrate ongoing dedication to their area of their specialism. From academic scholars showing their intellectual curiosity by seeking to broaden their knowledge, to sports scholars being role models on the playing field, and music scholars making an active and positive contribution to the musical and co-curricular life of St John’s, our scholars are supported to achieve their full potential.

If your child is not already registered with the School, please complete a Registration Form. Candidates are welcome to apply for more than one scholarship.  Applications, payment and supporting information must be submitted by the relevant closing date.

Details of the application process, deadlines and further information can be found in our Scholarship Brochure, below.

Whilst it is usual to expect that any award made to a pupil joining St John’s will be held throughout that pupil’s time at the School, all awards are subject to an annual review and if a value is awarded (which is not always the case), it is of the tuition fees.  The annual review covers issues such as attitude and participation and is designed to check that reasonable progress is being maintained in those areas of school life which are relevant.  Retaining a scholarship is subject to The Head’s approval and in some cases will depend on the pupil studying that discipline at GCSE or A level.  In the rare event that a pupil fails to meet and/or maintain the criteria specified, the award may be removed.
