OJ Sporting Success
The high level of sport which St John’s pupils are renowned for does not conclude at the end of Upper Sixth. Many OJs (St John’s alumni) have taken their rugby careers to new levels after leaving school.
Claudia MacDonald is achieving great things in the world of rugby and has been included the England Ladies Senior Rugby squad, the Red Roses. Women’s rugby is going from strength to strength and Claudia’s inclusion in the national squad is an outstanding achievement; everyone at St John’s is extremely proud of her. Claudia’s rise began with her representing club side Wasps in the Premier Ladies competition, where she plays scrum half.
A 2018 leaver, Jack Musk, is now part of the Harlequins senior rugby squad. Jack has been a vital member of the A league squad this season, playing in five matches. As well as many strong performances, the highlight of his season so far was his try at the Stoop, against a strong Bristol side, in September.
Other great rugby success stories within the OJ community include Adrian Van Der Ploeg representing the Loughborough University 1st XV in National League 1 and Will Mead’s inclusion in the Leed’s University 1st XV side, playing in the Premier BUCS university league.
