Community Christmas Lunch
On Sunday 2 December, 65 members of the local community were warmly welcomed to St John's School by the Community Service Unit, for a special Community Christmas Lunch.
This annual event brings together a number of local community associations, including ‘The Fairfield Centre’, ‘The Royal British Legion’ and ‘The Beeches Care Home’ in Leatherhead, local residents to the School, and ‘Ashtead Good Neighbours’.
During the afternoon, St John’s pupils served a fantastic festive feast, with the traditional turkey, mulled wine and Christmas pudding. Alongside this, the pupils spent time talking with the guest, and organised a quiz and carol singing.
St John’s runs a very successful Community Service Unit (CSU). The Unit thrives owing to the passion and kindness evident amongst pupils. Historically, St John’s purpose was originally to support the children of poor clergy and today there remains a very strong spirit of giving and support both to each other and to the extended community.
