Last Five Years
The beginning of the Spring Term saw the Performing Arts Department leap straight into the deep end with two performances of Jason Robert Brown’s fantastic and emotional one act chamber opera, ‘The Last Five Years’.
A small pupil ensemble of Mimi, Alasdair, Jimena and Ismael led by Mr White on the piano offered tireless and sophisticated support to the two tour de force performances from Phoebe and Toby.
The simple staging brought to the fore the heart wrenching story of two young lovers who marry and sadly separate and enabled our cast to deliver finely nuanced performances whilst singing their hearts out.
Director of Performing Arts, Ollie White commented “For pupils to deliver such mature performances of such an emotionally complex show, while being accompanied in a fiendishly difficult score was not only a true test of stamina but seriously impressive. The appreciative audiences were held spellbound for the full 70 minutes, with not a dry eye in the house.”
