Marvellous Michaelmas Concert
St John's School Michaelmas Concert took place on Tuesday 26 November and was themed around ‘A Miscellany of Musical Miniatures’. The concert saw the combined forces of the Chapel Choir, Choral Society and Sinfonia raise the roof of a packed Old Chapel with the first of this academic year's major music concerts.
A miscellany of miniatures by Elgar, Grainger, and Anderson were performed by the Sinfonia, Schola Cantorum, Lower School Choir and Brass Group, followed by a committed and rousing rendition of Rutter's ethereal Requiem.
St John's Choral Society joined forces with our own Chapel Choir accompanied by a small, instrumental ensemble of pupils to perform this well-loved work. The performances were highly impressing, and the audience were spellbound.
The stunning solos from Sixth Form pupils Georgie and Sarah, and wonderful playing from Rob, Jamie, Poppy, Alasdair and Fourth Form pupil Luc enhanced the superb performance from the choir.
Director of Performing Arts, Ollie White, commented 'I am hugely proud of all our pupils, once again showing the breadth of talent within our community that enables us to tackle such a wide range of music, always with commitment, passion and integrity. Bravi tutti!’
