Support for Ukraine

In response to recent events in Ukraine, the St John’s School community have come together to help those in need. A number of pupil led events will be taking place in the coming weeks to fundraise, provide focus, and offer practical and financial support for the people of Ukraine.

On Monday 21 March, pupils and staff were encouraged to participate in ‘Support for Ukraine Day’, by wearing items of blue and yellow, to raise money and awareness. Pupils led bake sales within their houses, raising further donations for those in need.

To begin our ‘Support for Ukraine Day’ a number of pupils bravely led a poignant and moving assembly highlighting the realities faced by Ukrainians, and their own personal experiences.

The School flag has been replaced by the Ukrainian national flag, in a display of solidarity.

There will be also be other initiatives launching soon, including an art and essay competition and a sponsored run, where the School community will be aiming to virtually run the 1,950-mile distance from St John’s to Kyiv.

St John’s pupils have been rallying support for Ukraine in their spare time, too. From badge and bracelet making to busking in Esher High Street, the compassion shown by our pupils has been astounding.
