During the Easter break, a group of U13 and U14 cricketers embarked on a four day tour to Desert Springs Resort in southern Spain. Travelling to the warm climate of Spain allowed for perfect preparation for the busy season of cricket, one of the major Summer Term sports at St John’s.
The beginning of the trip saw pupils eagerly learning at the academy, with fielding drills and nets sessions and scenario based training. Later in the trip, matches were played in the sunshine against Malvern College, putting into practice skills acquired earlier in the week. The hard work paid off and the teams showed real progress.
Director of Cricket, Mr Hammond, said: “Throughout the four day trip, the boys developed on and off the field and are in a good place to start the season.” Whilst there, Mr Hammond was interviewed by the Desert Springs Resort team, click here to watch his interview.
