THE LAST FIVE YEARS

The Last Five Years is perhaps the most perfectly written chamber musical of recent times, with a thrilling score, a perfect concoction of comedy and heartache and is a tour de force for the central performers. The show has played twice in New York and London, and has been a major film release with a large cult following. Featuring a small orchestra formed from St John’s pupils, the audience will watch the simple story of Jamie and Cathy falling in love, marrying and taking the sad road to separation, all told through monologues and duets - all with one huge, theatrical twist.
Who is responsible for the demise of the relationship? Only the audience can decide.
MUSIC MASTERCLASS - POP

A chance for the pupils at St John’s to release their pop star potential. Musicians from ‘All Together Now Performing
Arts’ will hold two sessions with a professional band, teaching the pupils two songs. It promises to be a fantastic
opportunity for the pupils and the audience to ‘get into their groove’.

The Other Guys are Scotland’s premier all-male a cappella group and pride themselves by combining the classical with the contemporary in all things a capella. The group members, including an OJ, are all students at the University of St. Andrews, and promise to provide an evening of entertainment raising money for a great cause close to many people at St. Johns - The Community Holiday 2020.
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM - THE SHAKESPEARE PROJECT

Shakespeare’s most popular comedy comes to St Johns, featuring pupils from across the Senior School.
This is a story of love and marriage, order and disorder, reality and delusion. It features four young lovers who run away
to the forest, only for mayhem to ensue when fairies and magic decide to intervene.

St John’s annual music competition open to all musicians, of all standards. Pupils are awarded prizes in three categories and the winners of all categories will perform in an evening concert on Wednesday 26 February.

The Performing Arts Department go on tour to present an evening of music from the silver screen. Every music ensemble from St John’s will take part, including renditions of classics ranging from Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Back to the Future and the ever popular Star Wars.

LITTLE WOMEN

This year’s Spring Term Production will be a theatrical adaptation of the literary classic Little Women. Against the
backdrop of the American Civil War, Little Women follows the four March sisters as they face the hardships of growing up amidst the constraints of genteel poverty and the reality of social expectations. This promises to be a beautiful and
enchanting performance featuring pupils from Fourth Form to Upper Sixth.
