v Colfe’s – Lost A disappointing start to the campaign. A par score was posted. During our innings we lost Adam Dyson with a torn muscle. He had to retire when he was dominating the bowling. Missing James Lander, Will Lander and Adam Dyson we did not quite have the quality in our bowling to control proceedings. Sensible batting saw Colfe’s through to a deserved win. v Blue Leopards – Won The side pitched up determined to put matters right. Our fielding was excellent and we contained the opposition by picking up wickets at regular intervals. Our batting was led by Will Lander who dominated, ending on 66 not out. He saw the job through with his partner Josh Howe, who posted 32 not out. v Brentwood The most pleasing of performances. Brentwood applied early pressure with fast, testing bowling. Simon Roberts and Tom Laudy stood up to be counted and dealt with the chin music with aplomb. The crucial partnership was between Tom Laudy (67) and Edward Evans (53). They ran well and attacked in a positive vein. At the tail end of the innings Jack Prichard smote a quick fire 28 off 11 balls to ensure a good target was set. Will Lander, once again stepped up to the plate and his figures of 5-27 were fully deserved. George Gazzard bowled extremely well and Josh Howe picked up the crucial wicket of Hasan, an England age group player, for 51. A fantastic team effort and it was pleasing to be given the festival shield, despite both Brentwood and St John’s both having won 2 games.
Colfe’s, who had beaten us in the opening fixture, lost to the Blue Leopards leaving both of those sides on 1 win each. |
