St John's Runners-up in Paris tournament.

St John's School U15 rugby team represented England during half term in an International Rugby Tournament in Paris where they defeated hosts and tournament favourites Stade Francais 10-0 in the semi-final before narrowly losing to Dax, by one score, in the final.

Bernard Laporte (below), former Head Coach of the French national team, presented the St John's team with their runners-up trophy. The boys qualified from their group with impressive performances against French Academy sides. All the games were played at Stade Jean Bouin the home of Stade Francais.

The boys watched Clermont Auvergne beat Perpignan in a packed Stade de France in the final of the French Top 14 the night before their tournament.

Nick Platt, Director of Sport, who was with the team in Paris said: "This was a great experience for the boys playing against teams from around the world in a Premiership standard stadium. The semi-final win against the hosts showed St John’s rugby at its best – the physicality of our boys put the French on the back foot but the game was won by the flair of the St John’s back-line"
