Long Term Development of the School

Providing a high standard of education is about the facilities we provide for our pupils, as well as the teaching and support that we offer.  St John's has an ambitious vision for the development of the School.

Since 2001 over £10 million has been spent on major capital projects including the construction of the Performing Arts Centre, Fairfield House for girls and a major refurbishment of the boarding houses.  The latest phase, The Henry Dawes Centre our state-of-the-art Classroom Block which also accommodates our new Library, was completed in September 2010.

Future plans include:

  • Expanding the Chapel to accommodate increased pupil numbers.
  • Conversion of the old Chapel (currently the Library) into a multi-purpose space for performance, examinations and seminars.
  • Refurbishment of the old Design and Technology Department for use as social space for pupils and a base for CCF and outdoor activities.
  • The provision of new, specialist sport facilities for the School.
  • Additional accommodation for girls.

The St John's Foundation will support the School in its long-term development plans, creating the best possible environment for our pupils to flourish.
